Tips for Choosing a Locksmith:

  • Request for Recommendations. Contact friends, family members, and next-door neighbors for recommendations of reliable locksmiths in your area. Make sure to verify the physical address of any locksmith you find and make sure the address is actually regional. Visit bbb.org/indy for a listing of recognized locksmiths, to check out BBB Business Reviews and Customer Reviews from previous customers. Ensure business does not have any unanswered/unresolved grievances.
  • Call the Business. Be wary if the business answers the phone with a generic expression like “locksmith services”. Ask what their legal business name is and if they are unable to offer it to you, look in other places for a locksmith. Search for a company that addresses the phone with their particular company name.
  • Ask for an Estimate. Prior to having the locksmith pertained to your house or car, make certain to obtain a quote that consists of the cost of all labor and the replacement parts for the lock. Trusted locksmiths will be able to provide you a quote over the phone.
  • Ask about additional fees including: if you will be charged extra for services in the middle of the night or weekends or if there is a charge by the millage they need to take a trip. If once the locksmith arrives they are charging a higher rate than on the phone, don’t permit them to start working. Take care to never sign a blank document to authorize work.
  • Check Credentials. Make certain that the locksmith you hire is insured so you will be covered in case the repair causes damages. Upon arrival, ask the locksmith to offer recognition and/or a company card. It’s likewise important to check if the business name and logo on their service cards match the name and logo on the invoice and vehicle. A reputable locksmith will also request to see your recognition to make sure it’s actually your home they are doing deal with.
  • Conserve Their Information. After the locksmith has finished the job, get an itemized billing that includes: parts, labor, mileage, and other costs and save this document for future recommendation. If you believe you have found a credible locksmith, you need to keep business’ name and information stored in your wallet or mobile phone in case their services are needed in the future.

Possible Scam Scenarios

  • Providing a low rate for the repair then raising the price on the labor or adding mileage expense to the job.
  • Declaring a lock is not able to be chosen, then drilling it off and replacing it with a costly replacement lock.
Utilizing a regional, genuine locksmith company info such as an address and/or a comparable sounding name when business is really located in another city or state.
  • Spoofing any local contact number, when your call is really directed to a call center who then issues a “mobile service technician.”
Whether it’s for a prepared house enhancement, or an emergency situation lock-out situation, using a reliable locksmith is essential. Do your research before hiring a locksmith for non-emergency situations and have a locksmith’s contact information that you have currently looked into convenient for those emergency situation scenarios.

Ballyvaughan or Ballyvaghan[2] (Irish: Baile Uí Bheacháin, meaning “Ó Beachán’s townland”) is a small harbour village in County Clare, Ireland. It is located on the N67 road on the south shores of Galway Bay, in the northwest corner of The Burren. This position on the coast road and the close proximity to many of the area’s sights has turned the village into a local center of tourism activity. At the time of the 2011 Census Ballyvaughan had a population of 258. The area was officially classified as part of the West Clare Gaeltacht, an Irish-speaking community, until 1956.

The site was originally occupied by Ballyvaughan Castle, which stood right at the edge of the harbour.[3] It was owned and occupied by the O’Loghlen family, except for a period in the 16th century when the O’Brians held it. In 1540, a stolen cow was found at the castle, and heavy fines were levied on the O’Loghlens—loss of cattle, goats, sheep and the town of Ballyvaughan. In 1569 the castle was attacked by Sir Henry Sidney but the O’Loghlens held on to the property. By 1840, the castle was in ruins. Only the foundations remain today.
